Ileana D'Cruz or simply Ileana to her fans is the new glamour girl of Tollywood. She was born on August 19, 1987 in Mumbai, but her family is now settled in Goa. She has three sisters and a brother. she took to modeling at a very early age and performed very well in the profession. Reading books, listening to music and swimming are her hobbies.

She burst into the scene with a famous Fair and Lovely commercial directed by ace ad film director Rakesh Roshan. It was form here that she was spotted by director Y.V.S. Choudhary and offered a role in his movie Telugu movie Devadasu in 2006. Here she stared opposite Ram who was also making his debut on the screen. The film was an instant hit and overnight turned Ileana into a star. The critics applauded her sensitive portrayal of a woman who fights against her father for her love in the movie. Her life was destined to change in the same year and she go the offer to play the role of Shruti in the movie Pokiri directed by Puri Jagannath. Incidentally Bollywood actress was offered the role but she rejected. The character she played was of an innocent girl haunted by a corrupt police officer. The film not only appealed to the urban masses but was a super hit in the rural areas. Her costar in this was prince Mahesh Babu, the film broke all the box office records of Tollywood and went on to become the biggest hit in Tollywood history grossing over Rs. 66 crores. After this sensational hit she was in the numbero uno spot among the actresses in the Telugu industry one of the highest paid actresses. She gets 70 lakhs a film after less than two years in the Industry.

To add to her versatile nature of acting she went on to do a Tamil film Kedi with Ravi Krishna. The film did not do well at the box-office but it gave her exposure in the Tamil industry and she was sought after by many directors and actors there. Ileana D'Cruz (born 1 November) is an Indian film actress, who predominantly appears in Telugu cinema. Starting her career as a model, she made her feature film debut in Y.V.S. Chowdhary's 2006 Telugu film Devadasu. Ileana went on to appear in commercially successful ventures Pokiri (2006), Jalsa (2008) and Kick, establishing herself as one of Telugu cinema's leading actresses.

Early life

Ileana was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra as the second child to her parents Ronaldo and Samira. She has three siblings—older sister Farrah, younger brother Rhys and youngest sister Eileen. Her first name comes from Greek mythology. While growing up, she lived in Goa for about seven years.

During that time, the manager of the hotel her mother was working in, suggested that she should start modelling and fixed a meeting with Marc Robinson. Though initially reluctant, she was persuaded and her first portfolio was created in January 2003, which she described as a "disaster". She began gaining notice through photo shoots and ramp shows and her second portfolio was set up the following year, which landed her three advertisements from Electrolux, Emami Talc and Fair and Lovely. The latter, in particular, which was directed by Rakesh Roshan, gave her exposure and brought in several offers for acting in feature films.

Early career
In 2005, Ileana D'Cruz was called for an audition by director Teja, but the project was cancelled. She instead made her feature film debut in the Telugu language romance film Devadasu (2006), directed by Y. V. S. Chowdhary. She underwent acting classes with Aruna Bhikshu, before starting to work on the film. She recalls that during filming she felt "pressured almost cried and didn't want to go further", but went ahead after her mother encouraged her, giving her "the lecture of a lifetime at 3 am." Upon release, critics were in praise of Ileana, particularly referring to her physique and looks; Jeevi of Idlebrain wrote that Ileana "makes a cool debut. She is good at histrionics and has a fabulous body any woman would love to possess. She has great legs and nice physique", while a review from Indiaglitz noted that she "has chiseled features and a figure to die-for." Devadasu, which also marked its lead actor Ram's acting debut, became the year's first major commercial success, eventually grossing around 14 crores, whilst earning Ileana D'Cruz the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debutant. She next appeared opposite Mahesh Babu in the action flick Pokiri in which she portrayed an aerobics teacher, who is harassed by a corrupt police officer.
